Swansea Watersports Schools Programme's
Watersports fun days
Multi activity Watersports days are the prefect way to spend the day at Swansea Watersports and is a popular choice with schools with groups of all ages. It allows the young people a chance to experience the thrill and challenge of more than one activity over the period of the day. The main aim is for the children to develop water confidence and safe skills and above all have fun.
The time spent on each activity can be tailored to suit the needs of your group, but will also provide enough time to achieve a reasonable level of success.
A typical Watersports days would consist of 3 activities chosen from windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, dinghy sailing or team building with each session lasting approximately 1 hour.
A group photo will be taken at the end of the day with the distribution of fun certificates
Taster days
The taster day is made up of both land and water based activities. The aim is to introduce children to some of the skills and knowledge they will need to get the relevant national governing body qualifications. The choice of activities includes Sailing, kayaking, abseiling, Coasteering, gorge walking, hill walking and mountaineering, improvised rafting, open canoeing, rock climbing and windsurfing. The choice of activities is up to you, with a minimum choice to 2.The emphasis of the day can be either team work or individual success, both will be great fun with a competitive edge. The level of difficulty can be tailored to suit the age, nature and ability of your school group, it is therefore important that you discuss this with the centre well in advance so we can cater for your requirements.
The day will finish with the distribution of fun certificates.
National Governing Body Qualification courses
We offer a full range of RYA youth sailing courses, including BCU kayaking courses, which are some of the most popular sporting activities in the UK. Taking part in these courses can result in a certificate of competence in the chosen discipline. The focus is on covering skills and requirements but also with a huge element of fun. Individuals will be able to follow and chart their progress and success
ASDANS
As well as National Govern body qualifications, we are now ASDAN accredited. ASDANS are learner centered qualifications, offering opportunities for a negotiated curriculum which is modular and activity based. ASDANS are approved by the DFES, are recognized by UCAS.
Health and safety
The Centre is required by law to have a written document that states its Health and Safety Policy and its day to day Operating Procedures. All staff are required to work within the operational guidelines set down in the Operating Procedures Manual, written by the centre principle. This is updated on a regular basis to reflect new industry standards and to ensure continued safe practice. This is also checked yearly as part of the centre recognition.
